Map Your Neighborhood Grant Program Kickoff

The Warm Springs Mesa/City of Boise
Map Your Neighborhood Grant Program Kickoff
Bown Library, Noon Sept 21 or 6:00 p.m. Sept 26

Disasters are chaotic – communications and responses do not need to be. Mesa Homeowners and our neighbors are the first line of defense – how well each Mesa resident, young or old, have prepared for events immediately before, during and after an emergency situation hits will largely determine how each of us fare.

The Map Your Neighborhood initiative, like our time-honored Neighborhood Watch and Firewise programs offer worthwhile steps in Planning, Preparing and Preventing catastrophic outcomes following fires, ice storms and even earthquakes. These are events we face together and it is that very togetherness that will make the difference when harm strikes.

The Map Your Neighborhood (MYN) Kickoff will be held at either workshop which will be at Bown Library. The workshop is built on a simple premise – in a disaster, your most immediate source of help are the neighbors living around you – those you can reach in the first moments or an hour after a disaster forms “the golden hour”. MYN teaches neighbors to rely on each other during the hours before fire, police, medical or utility responders arrive. Each participant will receive a MYN handbook and full resource kit.
